Smoky Mountain Home Show: Attendee Information

Whether because of changing lifestyles or simply because houses are becoming outdated, millions of North Americans are renovating their homes every year, spending more money annually on renovation than on new home construction. But renovations can be fraught with unintended consequences like indoor air pollution. How do you remodel in a healthy, environmentally friendly way?
Buildings are responsible for 40% of worldwide energy flow and material use; so how you remodel can make a difference. Upgrading furnaces, cabinets and toilets mean less fossil fuel pollution, reduced resource depletion, and fewer healthy risks. Green remodeling is more energy-efficient, more resource-conserving, healthier for occupants and more affordable to create, operate and maintain.
From design and decor to windows and floors, home improvement and remodeling is booming in Tennessee. Last year Americans spent a record $215 billion on both
do-it-yourself and professional remodeling services.
There's much to know about home improvement, and this year's 21st Annual Smoky Mountain Home Show has the resources to get homeowners and future homeowners started on their remodeling and building projects.

A green home uses less energy, water and natural resources, creates less waste and is healthier for the people living inside compared to a standard home. It’s as simple as that! A home can be built green, or you can make it green later. A green makeover can happen all at once, or it can be a gradual process. But what it all comes down to is a new way of thinking – and a new way of living. From a more energy-efficient kitchen to a tree-filled backyard paradise, your home can be green top to bottom, front to back, inside and out. And it doesn’t matter whether you rent or own, live in an apartment or single-family home, or live in the city, the suburbs or the country.
Shop & Learn…
Making your home a greener place is a commitment – to yourself, your family, your community and the world. But more than that, it is a learning process. As exciting new technologies, products and scientific breakthroughs constantly emerge, staying educated on the hows – as well as the whys – of maintaining a green home is the best way to ensure your efforts are as effective and beneficial as possible.
What types of companies will I find at the show?
Almost any home product or service that you can image will be represented at the show. You’ll meet contractors, landscapers, architects, interior designers and more. You’ll also have the chance to see samples of products such as the newest in flooring and walkways to transform your home and add to its appeal. View displays of kitchens, baths, windows, doors, appliances, furnishings, spas, pools, fireplaces, sunrooms and so much more. Come with ideas, photos and an open mind, you’ll leave with inspiration! __________________________________
